Thank You to Our First 200 Customers
On June 30, we surpassed the 200 customer threshold. That means that we have 200 institutions and countless individuals to thank. While this may not seem like a big number to some, each of these new customers (except 5) selected Canvas after the beginning of 2011.

Our growth is a lot like these Batmobiles.
What’s caused this growth? Of course, our customers love that Canvas is open, easy-to-use and cloud native. But, just as much, they appreciate that the entire Instructure team is committed to improving education and willing to listen to and use customer input. As Kevin Reeve remarked about his recent InstructureCon experience: “For those of you not on Canvas, well, I just have one thing to say. It is time to take the leap. You are among friends, and as I heard someone at the conference say, ‘It feels like family.’ And I agree.”
Some of the great, new members of our “family” include:
- University of Maryland, College Park
- University of Texas at Austin
- The Juilliard School
- Pasadena City College
- Washington State Board of Community and Technical Colleges
- Cisco Network Academy (with 1,000,000 students across 10,000 institutions)
The future is exciting around here! There is a ton of momentum, so stay tuned for additional big announcements this summer. Canvas K-12 is continuing to make good progress since our launch in February 2012. Nearly 50 schools are on board including Naperville Community Unit School District near Chicago, where they expect to use Canvas to transform learning environments for their nearly 18,000 students and 2,400 teachers and employees.
Lastly our customers are our partners. They continually help us design and improve Canvas. We can’t thank our first 200 customers enough and look forward to continued innovation and collaboration!
Looking forward to the next 200!
